Real Brides: Kayla
My husband, Carl, and I have actually been together for 10 years this past June! We started dating when I was a senior in high school and he was a freshman in college. We then went to college together and graduated from Texas State, then moved to Austin together. We always knew that we would get married, we just really were not in a rush since we had been together for so long! We are also super goal oriented people, so we wanted to hit some career milestones before taking the marriage leap. We are kind of the same person, but in boy/girl form. We love to travel, cook, huge wino's, workout, be outside etc. We got engaged in Breckenridge, Colorado Feb 2018, and I was honestly shocked. Like I said, I was not in a rush and figured it would be sometime down the line! As soon as we got home, we started to think about how we envisioned our wedding, did we want to do destination, here in Austin, or in our homewtown Victoria, TX. We have pretty much owned Austin as our new "home," and thought if we would have a destination we would miss the party with all of our friends that would not be able to make it, so we set Austin as our venue. We got married in St. John Newmann Catholic Church, and that church is just amazing. I still have guests tell me that they were so mesmerized by the church that it was hard to focus on the wedding! And our reception was Mercury Hall. We had some crazy weather all of April and May and it was supposed to rain the entire weekend of the wedding. I was so stressed about it, because I was so worried that the pictures would not turn out, but they did and I love every single one of them! Hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
To be completely honest, I never thought I would get a beaded or sweetheart neckline dress. But I LOVED my dress! The detail was amazing and I got so many compliments on the wedding of how gorgeous it is. It was almost like it was made for me. When I put it on, I was like oh my gosh, this is the one. I really did not try on too many dresses when looking, probably like 10 and I still am just amazed how beautiful it was. I purchased, I believe, a size 2 and the only alterations I had to do were take about 2in from the bottom. Everything else fit like a glove! Like I said, I think this dress was made for me!!
