Real Brides: Katelyn

I met my husband through my brother in law and knew of him for a couple of years. He messaged me on Facebook asking if I would like to go with him to a Garth Brooks concert. I said I loved country so why not. And he replied “saddle up cowgirl!” We were inseparable ever since that night. We dated for over 3 1/2 years until he popped the question, and we actually got married on our 5 year anniversary. I knew the dress was the one as soon as the owner of Satin Hanger showed me what was coming to her shop. Previously I had been to roughly 12 wedding dress shops in 3 different towns and sometimes I went to the same shops twice. I wasn’t finding any dresses that I dreamt about or made me say wow this is the dress I’m going to wear to marry my best friend. So after striking out everywhere and becoming a little discouraged my mom and I decided to make the 45 minute drive to Satin Hanger where I had previously bought a bridesmaid dress a couple years ago. After trying on a handful of dresses I just didn’t love any and that’s when the owner said you know what, you’re dress will be here in two weeks. I was confused by what she meant. She said everything that you’re telling me is in this dress I bought at a trunk show last weekend and it will be here in two weeks. So she showed me a picture of this beautiful dress that had every detail I was looking for- floral, lace, horse trim, a fitted bodice, a skirt that flowed from the waist down, and a beautiful long train with all the details you could ever want. So I told her to let me know when the dress comes in. I came back in two weeks and before I could even zip it up I knew this was my dress! I instantly fell in love and said yes to the dress within seconds! I fell even more in love with it once it was fitted. I wish I never had to take it off on my wedding night.
