Real Brides: Cheryl

I met my husband, Malcolm, on Match almost 12 years ago. I was living in Korea at the time and planning on moving back to the States soon to see my family and switch careers; and I wanted to find someone that I could rediscover NYC with. I remember Mal's profile was a little goofy and playful and he was wearing a tricorn hat in one photo which I loved (I love costumes :)). So I sent him a wink and he ended up messaging me. A lot of our early conversations were about life post-college, mythology, and our hobbies. He was a really sweet person and we met in real life around two months after that initial wink. Our first date was bowling and dinner at a Filipino restaurant.
At first, I was pretty sure that I wanted a fairly traditional romantic dress with lace and minor beading, so that's what I had my eyes set on for the longest but none of the dresses that I tried on really called to me. One came pretty close but something told me to keep looking for other options.
I ended up going to a different store and the lady who was helping me shop told me that she had the perfect dress in mind and that I should try it on. When I first saw it, I told her that it was the complete opposite of what I was thinking but I agreed to try it on anyways. And I absolutely loved it -- it was beautiful and brought a level of drama and playfulness that meshed with my personality. I loved the sequins and the beading, especially as they kind of reminded me of trailing vines, and the flattering cut of the neck, all I wanted to do was spin and dance in it. The dress was elegant, comfortable, fun, and sexy. I knew it was the one because I couldn't stop smiling while wearing it.
