Real Brides: Samantha
My husband and I met in 2011 through mutual friends. He messaged me on Facebook telling me that he liked my best friend to have an excuse to talk to me (he didn’t actually like her, I always thought this was weird way to start talking). We became good friends and he eventually admitted to liking me but I friend-zoned him for 3 years before we started dating. He proposed in July 2021 and we got married November 2022. I can truly say I married my best friend.
I always knew what I wanted my dress to look/feel like. I watched Say Yes to the Dress on end since I was little and dreamed of the day when I would finally get to say yes to my dress. I knew I was looking for something ballgown or A-line and I loved the handkerchief bottom look. The dress was probably about the 10th one I tried on and instantly it felt different from every other dress I tried. I cried when I walked out to show it to my friends and family. I loved everything about it. The skirt, the open back, and especially all of the embellishments that gave it texture without being overwhelming. Based on everything I felt being in the dress, I knew it was the one. I felt all the butterflies - happy, excited, and like a bride.
