Real Brides: Alexis

Alexis and Timothy were set up by a mutual friend on the dating app Hinge in September 2020. At the time, Alexis was a senior at the University of Michigan, while Timothy, her now-husband, was working remotely from Novi, Michigan, as an investment banking analyst. After exchanging messages, they met for dinner in Ann Arbor and instantly connected.
Their relationship grew despite busy schedules, with Timothy traveling between New York and Philadelphia while Alexis attended law school. By 2022, they lived together during her summer internship, and in November of that year, Timothy proposed in a grand surprise with both families present.
The couple married on August 17, 2024, in Washington, D.C., celebrating with 180 guests at the Mayflower Hotel. They honored Chinese traditions by changing into red Qipao wedding attire for the reception, and the bride’s mother created unique glass flower sculptures for the occasion. Their love story is described as a modern fairy tale, filled with serendipity and a happily ever after.
Alexis's choice to wear her mother's wedding dress, a design from our studio in the '90s, added a deeply personal touch to her special day. The timeless elegance of the original design shone through. The dress was beautifully adapted with additional beading and restoration to fit Alexis perfectly. This blend of cherished tradition and contemporary flair made her walk down the aisle a memorable tribute to both family heritage and her own unique style.
